Carlene is a Registered Psychiatric Nurse licensed and regulated by British Columbia’s College of Nurses and Midwives (#0974596). She is also a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner (SEP) and Intuitive Eating Counselor. She has worked in mental health for more than ten years and has experience working in emergency, inpatient, outpatient and community mental health settings. In private practice she offers virtual individual and group counseling.
Carlene understands the courage it takes to seek therapy, and considers it a great privilege to walk alongside those who choose to work with her. Her practice is grounded in trauma-informed, anti-oppressive, and strengths-based approaches. She is HAES aligned and LGBTQ+ and Neurodiverse affirming.
Carlene has a special interest in working with women navigating: Developmental and Complex Trauma, Disordered Eating & Body Image, Spirituality, High Control Religion, Religious Trauma, Deconstruction and Sex/Sexuality.
Carlene's work is influenced by the following modalities: Somatic Experiencing, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Intuitive Eating, Dialectical Behavioural Therapy, Psychosocial Rehabilitation, Spiritually Integrated Psychotherapy, Motivational Interviewing, Internal Family systems and Parts work.
Carlene maintains ongoing supervision from renowned experts and authors including: Evelyn Tribole (RD, Author & Co--creator of IE), Raja Selvam (SEP & Author), Abi Blakeslee (Ph.D., MFT & SEP Legacy Faculty), Mahshid Hager (SEP) and more.
